Best Among the Rest

Have you ever looked at a world map? What is the first thing that you see, well America, Africa and Australia? But how about the small countries around, do you have the time to look at it? Well, Philippines is the one we're talking about. It is a south-east asian country full of dreams, talents, natural resources and culture. This blog called "the Filipinos best" will talk and introduce the ultimate food, drink, fashion and expression that you will encounter only in the Philippines! So come ride with our virtual jeepney as we introduce to you the ultimate Filipino madness.

First is the Filipino food, which is the renowned Lechon. It is one of the popular cuisine in the country because of its crispiness after tons of hours cooking it on a charcoal. The term Lechon or suckling pig came from the spanish word leche or milk.
We can say that they are everywhere especially in festivals, parties and any small "salo-salo" involving Filipinos. You might be rich, poor or middle class but lechon are for everyone who loves to eat and to attend fiestas! It is so famous that it became infamous for high-blood, diabetic and for people who wants to maintain their weight cannot resist this Filipino trademark. This is the ultimate food of the Philippines because it is present in any occasions and because of the Filipino's love for Lechon, they made a festival about it in Balayan, Batangas called Roasted Pig Parade. Here are some pictures on how the people eat and party, the Filipino way!
Aside from food, Filipino's have a ultimate expression too. It was created not to be cool or to make "pauso" but because Filipinos loves to express their feelings and creativity is an another way. We have the “bahala na si batman”or “bahala na” we say this when we are pressured and bind of something. “Uyyyy” for us Filipinos we love to tease people. “hala!” expression where we panic to a certain situation. “Wala lang” this means nothing but usually Filipinas say this and it has a thousand meaning. Generally of course we Filipinos loves to smile as we are known to be friendly. Whatever problems that comes we still manage to smile. Every culture do have different expression and we may not use them to communicate who have different cultures because they will misunderstand it. As time goes by, Filipinos really likes to invent a lot of words that will make them easier to remember.

As we walk through the streets going to our Campus, shopping in a mall, strolling around the park with your dog, or just simply walking around everywhere, anywhere, we see people dressed differently. But what is really the ultimate fashion of the Filipinos? I also wonder to this question. That’s why I decided to open my eyes a bit and see how Filipinos usually go out on a normal day. How do they present themselves to the public? Whether they’re just going to Church or to their friend’s house, how do they get dressed-up?
Based on what I’ve noticed, the ultimate style of the Filipinos is to wear shirts and jeans and they’re good to go. Be it flats or simply slippers for there shoes and they’re all good already. Filipinos are very simple when it comes to dressing up. But don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean that when they’re simple, it already means that they don’t know how to look good or be fashionable. It’s just that they’re really simple dressers. Besides style is someone’s own right? Its about expressing one’s self. Though I still see some Filipinos who really do dare to be different hen it comes to fashion. Say for example, Karl from lookbook or Dennis also from lookbook, you can really say that Filipinos also do have great sense of styling and fashion. And WE are very creative and dare to be unique and true to ourselves! For those Filipinos who prefer shirts+jeans for their daily uniform, so be it. It’s their choice! While for those Filipinos who chose to be a little different than the others, keep it up! Let us show the world what we’re truly made of!

The ultimate beverage of the Filipino’s is the local San Miguel beer. Because it has been around for the last one hundred years. People are used to drink this local beer since the 19th century. The local beer has been popularized through a lot of media advertisements like television ads, radio announcements and broad sheets newspapers. It is abundantly available throughout the archipelago and very much affordable by the local citizens. The taste of each brew is very much accepted and patronized by the local drinkers. This iconic food/drink, like lechon will never be absent from parties and fiestas (Filipinos loves to party and gather with friends)! Lastly the proofs of each popularity is evident of each worldwide sales throughout the world.
Lechon, "bahala na," jeans and t-shirts and San Miguel Beer are just some of the things that will remind you of this country. These are the symbols of uniqueness, creativity and nationalism. Maybe Philippines is small but with all the things that we've said, we can guarantee you that it can be as ultimate as the US and other big countries.
